Alejandro Escovedo had his begaround in foremost-wave punk rock group The Nuns, with Delphine Neid, Jennifer Miro, and Jeff Olener, in San Francisco, California. It recorded an album in Posh Boy Records. His sixth album, a Human Under the Influence, was produced within 2001. He is Sheila E.'s uncle.
